Derusting method and classification of steel structure

2020-09-22
It is necessary to use a lot of steel in the design of Steel Structure Engineering, but the service life will be greatly shortened if the steel used in construction is rusty. It is also a challenge to personal safety. The collapse of houses is common and has been paid more and more attention in recent years.

Pickling is the process of pickling and derusting a steel frame to be coated by dipping it into an acid bath to remove oil and rust from the surface of the member. Using pickling process is also efficient, more thorough rust removal, but after pickling must use hot water or clean water to wash the components, if there is residual acid, the corrosion of components will be more serious.

Manual derusting is the removal of rust from steel components by manual use of relatively simple tools such as scraper, grinding wheel, emery cloth, wire brush, etc. . This method has low working efficiency, poor working conditions and incomplete rust removal.

The sand blast is a continuous process of using quartz sand or iron sand to impact the surface of the steel member to clean up the rust, oil and other impurities on the surface of the steel member under the pressure of the Compressed air, a method of removing rust to reveal the true color of metallic steel. This method has high efficiency and thorough derusting. It is an advanced derusting technology.

How to divide the corrosion grade of steel building?

Class A: A steel surface completely covered with oxide scales and virtually free of rust

Grade B: The surface of the steel which has been corroded and the partial oxide scale has been peeled off

Grade C: A steel surface on which the scale has been exfoliated or can be scraped off with a small amount of pitting

Grade D: The oxide scale has been fully stripped due to corrosion, and pitting has occurred generally on the surface of the steel
