The Main Components Of The Portal Frame Steel Structures

The main components of the portal frame:
Portal frame is generally a space system composed of roof structure, columns, crane beams, brake beams, various supports and wall frames.
a. Transverse frame: It is composed of columns and beams and is the main load-bearing system of the factory building. It bears the self-weight of the structure, wind, snow loads and vertical and lateral loads of the crane, and transmits these loads to the foundation.
b. Roof structure: the structural system that bears the roof load, including beams, brackets, intermediate roof trusses, skylight frames, purlins, etc. of the transverse frame.
c. Support system: including the support of the roof part and the support between the columns, etc. On the one hand, it forms the longitudinal frame of the factory building with the columns, crane beams, etc., and bears the longitudinal horizontal load; on the other hand, the main load-bearing system is composed of individual plane structures. It is connected into the overall structure of the space, thereby ensuring the rigidity and stability necessary for the plant structure. When the portal rigid frame adopts a crane of not less than 5T, the support between the columns should be supported by section steel.
d. Crane beam and brake beam (or brake truss): mainly bear the vertical and horizontal loads of the crane, and transmit these loads to the transverse frame and the longitudinal frame.
e. Wall frame: mainly bear wind load. In addition, there are some secondary components such as ladders, walkways, doors and windows, etc. In some workshops, there are also working platforms due to the requirements of process operations. The layout of the portal frame structure is closely related to the amount of steel used.
